This tour is the most prefered among the others, it is like visiting different countries when you go on this trip. From rainforest, savanna, varieties of landscapes, to the dry spiny forest. This trip starts by visiting different types of parks and ends by relaxing in the beach. Guests also experience with different cultures of different tribes through the National Road 7.
Drive East to Andasibe through landscape of the central highlands with few wildlife:
kingfishers, egrets, hamerkop…
After lunch, visit of a local villagers’ managed Park for a first contact with the mid-altitude rainforest
of Andasibe to meet the Indri, largest Lemur or the beautiful diademed Sifaka.
An evening walk before dinner to look for some of the nocturnal wildlife: mouse Lemur, Chameleons,
Leaf-tailed Geckos, Frogs…
After Breakfast, drive to Mantadia primary rainforest. Home to Indri, diademed Sifaka, black and
white ruffed Lemur, endemic Birds, Butterflies, the colorful Baron’s Mantella Frog…At the proper
Season, many different Orchid Species.
Picnic lunch. Drive back to the lodge.
After Breakfast, forest walk in the Analamazaotra Special Reserve: high “risk” of meeting the indri
and hearing its melodious and melancholic territorial call at close distance. Good chance also to see
the Diademed Sifaka, the second largest actual Lemur. Other Lemur types: grey Bamboo Lemur,
Common Brown Lemur.
Afternoon rest or walk through the Andasibe village.
Another evening walk before dinner to meet more nocturnal wildlife: Reptiles and nocturnal Lemurs.
After Breakfast, drive back to Tana then Southward to Antsirabe. Lunch on route.
The landscape is made of typical Merina countryside of mixed rice paddies and vegetable crops.
Stop at Ambatolampy at an aluminum handicraft workshop.
Check in and have dinner. Some workshop visits are suggested in this town of Antsirabe.
Breakfast continue the drive to the South.Occasion also to see the typical mid altitude vegetation of the western slope of the central Island:the Tapia forest. At Ambositra, visit at a woodcarving and marquetry workshop then lunch.
Drive toRanomafana National Park and check in in early evening. Dinner and night at the lodge.
Breakfast then drive to the Ranomafana National Park for a morning forest walk to look for the local wildlife: some types of Lemurs, Birds, most endemic.
Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit of the arboretum of Ranomafana to see samples of native trees and the Giant Parson’s Chameleon.
In early evening, short walk to search for mouse Lemur, one of the world smallest Primate, Frogs and some Chameleons.
Breakfast thendriveto the South. Still beautiful terraced rice paddies for the first bit then grapevine plantation before reaching a local villager managed forest:Anja Park where the guest will meet “His Majesty King Julian”, Ring-tailed Lemur in the wild.
Lunch at a local restaurant and continue the drive to the Isalo.
Arrival and check in at the Lodge at Isalo in early evening.
Beautiful hike in the Isalo National Park. The Isalo National Park is a superb ruiniform sandstone Massif with highly adapted vegetation such as Elephant foot plants.
Good place as well to see diffent types of Lemurs which appear at Picnic lunch.
Dinner and night at the lodge.
Early breakfast then drive to Zombitse National Park. First time to see Baobabs on the way.
At Zombitse, easy forest walk to try to meet some endemic Birds. Some types of Lemurs.Nice baobabs.
Picnic lunchdrive to Toliara, then toIfaty.
An early morning visit of the spiny forest to look for the endemic Birds, some reptiles, then variety shapes of the Baobabs. Then drive back for breakfast. The rest of the day at leisure. Varieties of activities can be organized at the lodge such as snorkelling and diving, zebu cart tour, bike riding.
After Breakafast drive back to Toliara, boarding in an outboard boat and transfer to Anakao. On the way, stop at Nosy Ve island to meet the Red-tailed tropic Bird. Picnic lunch then transfer to Anakao.
Check in. Dinner and night at the lodge. In the evening some Mouse Lemurs in the trees around the garden.
Early breakfast then 1h30 drive to Efoetse, gate of the Tsimanampetsotsa National Park.
Visit at the Mitaho Cave for a start: the endemic blind Fish. Hike on the Mahafaly plateau. The life condition here is so tough that the plants are very specialized to the drought. Several plant species are baobab like.
Possibility of ring-tailed Lemur, Radiated Tortoise and some endemic Birds. Greater Flammingos at the Tsimanampetsotsa Lake.
Lunch at a local restaurant then drive back to Anakao.
Dinner and night at the Lodge.
Breakfast then transfer to Toliara.
